Caroline Wozniacki got back to winning ways with a 6-3 6-0 win over Slovenia's Polona Hercog at the New Haven Open.
The world number one had lost her previous two matches and is in need of some victories heading into the US Open, which starts on Monday.
An earthquake halted play and forced an evacuation of the tournament site on Tuesday but it did not derail the Dane.
Wozniacki made the breakthrough to go 5-3 up and dominated from then on as she eased through to the third round.
"Nice to be back on a winning track," Wozniacki said on Twitter.After opening-match defeats in Toronto and Cincinnati, the 21-year-old finally found some hard-court form in her final warm-up ahead of Flushing Meadows, overwhelming her Slovenian opponent in 73 minutes in Connecticut.
She next faces a rematch with Christina McHale, who beat her in Cincinnati, after the American eased through 6-2 6-2 against Spanish opponent Carla Suarez Navarro.
Play was stopped earlier in the day when a 5.9 magnitude earthquakehit the east coast of the United States.
Meanwhile, Russian Elena Vesnina upset seventh seed Jelena Jankovic of Serbia 6-4 2-6 6-4 after their first-round match was interrupted by the quake.
"It's not like you are sitting on a couch. You are just sitting in the middle of nowhere and mosquitoes biting you and bugs and spiders crawling over you.""It doesn't make you feel good before going on the court," said Jankovic, who waited on the grass outside the stadium during the evacuation.
Vesnina said: "I will remember this day for the rest of my life. There is nothing you can say. It's just like you won the match after the earthquake and it just feels great."
In other action, third seed Francesca Schiavone of Italy cruised to an easy 6-2 6-1 second-round victory over Monica Niculescu, and Czech Petra Cetkovska battled to a 6-4 5-7 6-3 win over Poland's fifth seed Agnieszka Radwanska.
